The Irish Huddle - Oct. 23, Part 1

October 23rd, 2012

BGI Radio presents "The Irish Huddle", hosted by the legendary radio voice of Notre Dame football, Tony Roberts, with Blue & Gold senior editor Lou Somogyi and former Irish sports information director Roger Valdiserri. "The Huddle" is available every week, including during the football season. Please check with BlueandGold.com for further, complete coverage of the Fighting Irish football team.

During today's segment, which was recorded on Tuesday of this week, "The Irish Huddle" discussed Notre Dame's trip to Norman in 1957 when Valdiserri was serving as the administrative assistant for Irish head coach Terry Brennan. The Sooners were not only on a 47-game winning streak while being ranked as the nation's No. 2 team, but had also went 123 straight games without being shut out by the opponent. The Irish traveled to Sooner Country as a three-score underdog and clinched the greatest upset in Notre Dame history by blanking Oklahoma 7-0 - eventually finishing the season 7-3 and ranked as the No. 10 team in the land.

Check back on Wednesday for the next edition of "The Irish Huddle" previewing the 2012 Notre Dame-Oklahoma Top-10 matchup with guest and BGI staff writer Dan Murphy.
